Sankuyo Tshwaragano Management Trust

Sankuyo Tshwaragano Management Trust is a Community Based Natural Resource Management organization in the Ngami District that oversees Shandereka Village and Kaziikini Campsite and partners with Lodges of Botswana to oversee Santawani Lodge. Registered in 1995, the Trust operates its land concession for mostly photographic safaris.
The trust uses its revenue to provide employment to the people of Sankuyo Village to fund community projects. Community projects include building a community hall with DSTV, a water supply for all the households, building houses for the poor and destitute, sponsoring a football club and grants for funerals and scholarships. In 2010, the trust sponsored 21 students for various courses in tourism, hospitality, business management, chef training and driving school training. Currently the trust is carrying out a water toilet building programme for every household in the village. Other plans include an irrigated vegetable garden and an orchard garden.
The land concession its self is game rich with regular sightings of elephant, giraffe, zebra, lion, leopard, and buffalo and other species as well as permanent and immigrant bird species which follow the Gomoti River. Activities provided by the Campsite include guided game drives and escorted self drive game drives and boat and mokoro (dug out canoe) excursions.
