Botswana National Youth Council

LOCATION:  Maun, Botswana • PRIMARY WORK:  Youth Empowerment  • ESTABLISHED: 1974

Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC) is a non-governmental organization established in 1974 to coordinate all youth focused Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). By working with other organizations in Maun, BNYC works to empower youth ages 18-29 who are in or out of school. The Council strives to empower and inspire youth to become leaders and actively participate in the development of Botswana, in a transparent, accountable and efficient manner.

Currently, the Council helps to guide youth in registering businesses so that they have an opportunity to apply for funds through the youth development fund. In addition, the council helps guide youth to facilitate activities such as drama clubs; HIV/AIDS outreach events, and rallies such as Youth Against AIDS forums in surrounding villages.
